About the Professional Licensing Agency:

The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency is seeking an individual to help protect the health and safety of the citizens of Indiana by providing quality, efficient service to all professional licensees, applicants, and the public. The fundamental purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the board director, the licensing board/commissions, and to directly supervise the customer service representatives’ projects across a broad scope of career opportunities. Role Overview:

This position provides oversight for all of PLA's various boards and commissions. The Director of Board Administration is a member of the executive team and this position is responsible for ensuring proper performance of board meetings and prelicensure functions. Additionally, this position serves as a Board Director whenever the full-time Board Director is unavailable. This position may serve as a full-time Board director on an interim or permanent basis.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $93,002.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Serves as director of a professional board on an as-needed basis

  • Ensures timely posting of minutes and agendas, and coordinates resources and meeting space for meetings.

  • Assists board directors in managing logistical, personnel, and policy issues.

  • Attends board meetings to provide quality assurance, as necessary.

  • Assists board directors during formal rulemaking process.

  • Assesses board performance related to prelicensure functions

  • Monitors error rates on prelicensure functions and develops training to address ongoing issues.

  • Maintains detailed knowledge of license requirements, as well as federal and state requirements related to the licensure process.

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and implements solutions.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Experience working in Indiana government.

  • License to practice law in Indiana preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize

  • Ability to effectively work with internal agency staff, staff of other state and federal agencies, practitioners, the governor's legislative team, and the general public

  • Ability to train staff and board members on issues that arise

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
