The Managed Services Cross Technology Engineer (L2) is responsible for providing a managed service to clients to ensure that their IT infrastructure and systems remain operational. Through the proactive monitoring, identifying, investigating, and resolving of technical incidents and problems, the Managed Services Cross Technology Engineer (L2) is able to restore service to clients. Their primary objective is to proactively review client requests or tickets and apply technical/process knowledge to resolve them without breaching service level agreement (SLA). This role focuses on second-line support for incidents and requests with a medium level of complexity. This role focusses across two or more technology domains - Cloud, Security, Networking, Applications and / or Collaboration etc.

This role may also contribute to / support on project work as and when required.

Strong inter-personal and communication skills

·Ability to learn and evaluate new technologies.

·Knowledge of the Linux kernel and kernel modules.

·Capable of writing proposals related to improving current infrastructure.

·Ability to perform presentations to customer/client audiences

·Ability to solve complex problems addressing the root cause of the issue.

·Log/system review for resolution or escalation of issues.

·Ability to identify tasks which should be automated and then write tools to automate them.

·Solid understanding of the Linux/Unix based operations system.

Ü System analysis

ü System performance tuning

ü Load Balancing

Ability to program in at least 2 languages (shell, Perl, Ruby and Python)

Solid understanding of networking.

·Professional familiarity with Configuration Management Tools such as the following:

Ø CFEngine

Ø Puppet

Ø Chef

Ø Salt

Ø Ansible/Docker

Understanding of Virtualization/Oracle HyperV and the ability to manage virtual machines.

Understand enterprise monitoring tools and management frameworks

Understanding of Incident Managment

·Experience with professional change management processes and procedures.

Understanding and ability to work within a highly available environment, including but not limited to financial, government, and medical landscapes.

·Familiarity with open source tools, bug tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance with security updates to alleviate potential exploits.

Knowledge and the ability to perform software installations/patching of operating systems.

Ability to perform system and file recoveries using the company standard backup solution
