Salvation Army Social Services Assistant - Family Transitional Housing in Duluth, Minnesota

Position Summary The Social Services Assistant for the scattered-site Family Transitional Housing (FTH) program at The Salvation Army Northern Division assists with children's programming, activities, and supervision. The Social Services Assistant also provides clerical and administrative support. 215 South 27th Avenue West, Duluth, MN 55806 $18.72/hour Essential Functions (approximate time spent) Supervise FTH children during programming, events, activities, including childcare, tutoring, and leading activities/crafts (40%). Perform administrative and clerical support tasks (e.g., rent ledger, newsletter, statistics, purchasing supplies) for FTH programming (40%). Maintain up-to-date, accurate participant information in casefiles and through database entry (10%). In conjunction with the Youth Development Coordinator, plan activities and crafts for FTH children including purchasing or securing donated supplies (5%). Conduct Pathway of Hope recruitment and promote Corps activities (5%). Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. Previous social services experience preferred. Must pass background checks, posses, valid driver's license, and meet MVR driving requirements. Competencies Flexible interpersonal and communication skills. High level of honor in dealing with confidential information. Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, databases, and standard office equipment. Working Conditions Light work including sitting, standing, walking, bending, and play activities. Must be able to sit and stand for reasonable periods of time. Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment. Must be able communicate clearly in English. Standard business hours with occasional evenings and weekends. Must be able to safely drive a 12-passenger van. Must be able to occasionally lift 30 pounds.
