Summary

The renewed NIH-fundedCenter for the Assessment of Tobacco Regulations (CAsToR) (https://tcors.umich.edu/) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship focused on the impact of tobacco regulations. The postdoctoral research fellow will develop and examine simulation models of tobacco use that explicitly consider multiple tobacco-products and multiple disease outcomes. The interdisciplinary team includes epidemiologists, economists, tobacco scientists, applied mathematicians, and statisticians. The project will conduct analyses of the public health impact of tobacco regulations across a range of tobacco-related conditions and policy outcomes. Desired areas of expertise include: dynamic and complex systems, agent-based modeling, computer programming (familiarity with R, Python, Netlogo), statistical analysis/econometrics, and epidemiology modeling. Experience developing mathematical/simulation models to address problems in public health, epidemiology, or health outcomes is a plus. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.Work with simulation modelers, epidemiologists, and economists across CAsToR to prepare public-facing translational materials that share research findings.CAsToR is part of the department ofHealth Management and Policy (https://sph.umich.edu/hmp/) in theSchool of Public Health (https://sph.umich.edu/) at theUniversity of Michigan (https://umich.edu/) . The supervisor will be Dr. David Mendez, PI.

Required Qualifications*

The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Health Economics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field.

Additional Information

This is a term-limited position for one year with a 12-month competitive salary commensurate with federally approved rates for postdoctoral researchers.

There is a possibility of renewal for an additional year, contingent upon funding and satisfactory performance. This position includes the University of Michigan's comprehensive health insurance and retirement benefits.
